Sometimes people ask why catholics make the sign of the cross on their forehead, lips, and heart before the Gospel reading. The answer is quite simple. We do it, asking that the word of God might ever be in our mind, that His Word be on our lips, and that His Word be in our hearts. Tomorrow is the feast of St. Francis. It is a good time to think about blessings. Francis praised and blessed God for all of creation. He sang "Be praised my lord for Mother Earth..." This weekend many of our second grade students will be receiving their first holy communion. Let us remember them in our prayers. This is a very big step for these children and we pray that it will only be the first of many times that they will receive our dear Lord in communion.
